My 1960 MGA as it looked when I purchased it in 1986.

The car was  painted white and badly rusted when I purchased it in 1986.  The fenders were completely rusted through at the bottom and held on with pieces of coat hanger wire.  This picture was taken just before I really started to take it a part.  Under the white paint was a coat of metalic blue paint, and beneath that layer was the original beautiful red color of the original paint job.
This is a picture of the inside of the car taken on the same day as the above photo.   The pieces of metal that can be seen inside the car are parts that had to be welded in prior to finsihing the body work.  Once all the structural body work was complete the car was painted by a local body shop that specializes in classic and custom car body work.
The rear door posts and sills required complete replacment due to the extensive rust.  This picture shows the new assemblies being fitted in place prior to welding.  The lower quarter of all four fenders were also replaced with new quarter panels.  The front suspension also had to be completely rebuilt.   In many cases the parts were rusted so badly they had to be removed with a cutting torch.
